Hi

Following on from yesterday's study showing that the number of penalties scored in the Premier League has fallen 7.9% since the introduction of VAR...we thought we would use this 5th, and final, instalment to take a look at the league's all-time spot-kick stats.

Specifically, which sides have scored the most penalties, and who are the top spot-kick takers from each of those clubs.

1. LIVERPOOL – 124 PENALTIES SCORED
Once again topping a list despite never winning a Premier League title – yet – the Reds have scored 124 penalties, with Steven Gerrard bagging just over a quarter of that total.

1. Steven Gerrard – 32 scored
2. Robbie Fowler – 14 scored
3. James Milner – 12 scored
4. Michael Owen – 10 scored
5. Dirk Kuyt – 8 scored

2. CHELSEA – 117 PENALTIES SCORED
The Blues may have scored 8 penalties fewer than Liverpool, but Frank Lampard at least has his England teammate Gerrard beaten, netting 43 spot-kicks during his time at Chelsea.

1. Frank Lampard – 43 scored
2. Eden Hazard – 14 scored
3. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink – 12 scored
4. Frank Leboeuf – 10 scored
5. Dennis Wise – 5 scored

3. MAN UTD – 113 PENALTIES SCORED
Of course United were going to be near the top – it's maybe even a surprise that they no. 1. They might have been a bit closer if Wayne Rooney and Ruud van Nistelrooy had matched the consistency of Gerrard and Lampard.

1. Wayne Rooney – 20 scored
2. Ruud van Nistelrooy – 17 scored
3. Eric Cantona – 14 scored
4. Cristiano Ronaldo – 11 scored
5. Paul Pogba – 6 scored

4. ARSENAL – 108 PENALTIES SCORED
It feels somewhat fitting that Arsenal – for the longest time a fixture of the top 4 – should find themselves in 4th place on this list with 108 spot-kicks scored. And, unsurprisingly, Thierry Henry sits atop the club's penalty-taking table with 22 goals.

1. Thierry Henry – 22 scored
2. Ian Wright – 16 scored
3. Robin van Persie – 9 scored
4. Santi Cazorla – 8 scored
5. Mikel Arteta – 7 scored

5. EVERTON – 93 PENALTIES SCORED
Cracking the top 5 in large part thanks to longevity – they are one of 6 sides to play in every season of the Premier League – the Toffees have scored 93 penalties during their time in the top flight.

1. Leighton Baines – 19 scored
2. David Unsworth – 18 scored
3. Mikel Arteta – 10 scored
4. Michael Ball – 6 scored
5. Wayne Rooney – 3 scored

=6. NEWCASTLE – 92 PENALTIES SCORED
The Magpies sit joint 6th alongside Tottenham, in no small part thanks to Alan Shearer, whose 35 converted spot-kicks means he has over a 3rd of the club's Premier League penalties.

1. Alan Shearer – 35 scored
2. Peter Beardsley – 13 scored
3. Nolberto Solano – 6 scored
4. Shola Ameobi – 5 scored
5. Joey Barton – 4 scored

=6. TOTTENHAM – 92 PENALTIES SCORED
Sat at the same 92 penalties as Newcastle, Tottenham's top spot-kick taker is Harry Kane with 20 spot-kicks.

1. Harry Kane - 20 scored
2. Teddy Sheringham - 18 scored
3. Robbie Keane – 15 scored
=4. Darren Anderton – 5 scored
=4. Rafael van der Vaart – 5 scored

8. MAN CITY – 91 PENALTIES SCORED
There are a few notable names in Man City's Premier League penalty history, including Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Yaya Toure, the latter of whom has an impeccable record.

1. Sergio Aguero – 26 scored
2. Carlos Tevez – 12 scored
3. Yaya Toure – 11 scored
4. Nicolas Anelka – 7 scored
5. Elano – 6 scored

9. WEST HAM – 75 PENALTIES SCORED
The Hammers come in at 9th place, with penalty machine Mark Noble emulating Alan Shearer in an unlikely way by providing more than a 3rd of West Ham's spot-kicks.

1. Mark Noble – 27 scored
2. Julian Dicks – 13 scored
3. Paolo Di Canio – 11 scored
4. Alessandro Diamanti – 4 scored
5. Marlon Harewood – 2 scored

10. SOUTHAMPTON – 67 PENALTIES SCORED
They might be in 10th place in terms of penalties scored, but they perhaps have the most famous spot-kicker taker in Premier League history in Matt Le Tissier.

1. Matt Le Tissier – 25 scored
2. James Beattie – 10 scored
3. Rickie Lambert – 6 scored
=4. Dusan Tadic – 4 scored
=4. James Ward-Prowse – 4 scored
